1. It’s 3:30 am and I am allowed to rant.

I really hate certain parts of the educational system - particularly deadlines. Like, I had one teacher a while back who a) gave you suggestions of when things should be handed in, but would accept them without penalty until the last day of class b) let you rewrite your essays as often as you wanted until you got the grade you felt you deserved, and c) was understanding if you weren’t able to attend class for a particular reason and did not penalize late work. Meanwhile my current teacher won’t accept any work the second after class has ended, will not let you make stuff up if you were sick, and will fail you for an essay if it isn’t printed and turned into him when class starts.

Like, seriously, bro. We’re in college. I know you’re making bank as a college professor. Take a few seconds to realize we’re confused teenagers with a lot going on in our lives and when you’re a hard-ass you’re seriously just adding more stress and depriving us of sleep, not to mention the fact that we don’t learn the source material as well. If you’re getting paid that much, the least you can do is help make sure we really learn what we’re supposed to, and studies show that we don’t learn as much when under stress.

  2. Work it.

Well, today I got hired at JCPenney’s for part-time work again, meaning I am now officially working two part-time jobs while attending college full-time. Gotta say, I’m glad. I definitely need the money, and I know I’ve got the grades. Now to pay off my debts and I’ll be rolling in cash before I give it all away for tuition fall semester. Better make it count while I can.

if artistic people are forced to take years of math and science then why don’t sciencey people have to take art and music classes

someone found a real life plot hole

“wow life sucks how come I have to take classes that aren’t in my major”

So you can be well-rounded. Get over it. We do take classes outside our major. I’m a pre-med biochem major and I have to study religion, philosophy, foreign languages, history, art, english, sociology, and a plethora of other subjects before I can get a degree. That way when someone asks you about something you’ll know more than just what a C minor is, and can actually be a productive citizen. The same goes for a chemist - it’s nice knowing formulas, but we should at least be able to know what a C minor is as well so we can be productive, sociable citizens. Universities aren’t picking on you because you’re artistic. They do the same thing to everyone.

  4. No choice in life is harder than deciding which foreign language you’re going to pretend to understand.

  5. Starting to get kind of worried about how Gonzaga still won’t let me register for classes in the fall. It’s like, okay, I paid my confirmation deposit ages ago so that I could get into your school and go bankrupt, and now all of the classes that I need are filling up and I can’t even register yet. Hopefully some of the core classes will be a bit empty at least. D: I meet with an admissions person on Monday so I guess I’ll find out what’s up soon.

  6. I’ve been super freaked out about how I’m doing in my French class, because I was put into the third part of a year-long series when I haven’t taken any French in over 2 years (and even then it was shitty high school French). But as of now, I have gotten over 100% on both of my french quizzes, and a 98% on my first essay. I think I’m gonna cry. If I do well on the test Monday, there’s hope for me being multilingual omg.

  7. Can I please just drop out of school and sleep all day and learn all the languages? No okay well it was worth a shot.
